Writer’s Residency

Tap into the creative power of the outdoors.

preface

Unyoked is on the hunt for nature writing, poems and short essays to be considered for our residency program and publication in our very first anthology.

We’re keen for pieces that are vivid, evocative and fresh, inspired by the awe of the wilderness. Rather than simply a travelogue, we’re interested in work that uniquely captures the thrill of being out there. Think mountains and vast grasslands; birdsong, rainforests or rushing rivers. We want to know the moments from nature that are still with you.

wilderness residency

Four residents will be offered regular, no strings access to a dedicated cabin for the next 6 months to give them space and inspiration for creative work - as well as having their winning submission published in print.

Selected by our judges, they will also be profiled and featured across Unyoked’s website and newsletter, read top to bottom by thousands of bored and pining souls across the nation each week.

the anthology

In addition to our four Wilderness Residents, our anthology will feature the work of nearly two dozen finalists, personally chosen by our judges. Every successful finalist will be paid for their work and syndicated on our website. Not only will this publication have a permanent place in each of our cabins, you’ll find it nestled into the nooks of selected cafes, bars and other spots across the country where you’re liable to find people daydreaming.
