It’s easy for us to forget just how important it is to disconnect in order to re-connect. The world has a special way of trapping us in a mindset that forces us to keep going, push stronger, work harder and longer in order to achieve some version of success.
But…what if we turned that world upside-down?
What if we rebelled against the current and found a place where our spirit could rise above any worries? Somewhere to watch the time slow down and our problems melt away like the morning sunlight sluicing through the trees? Watch the steam rising slowly from that fresh cup of coffee, toes cozy under the blanket while the graceful clouds gently embrace the mountain and the treetops outside the glass window...
Just like a movie scene where we are centre stage...
As we walked up the hill, the view that unraveled in front of our eyes was beyond what we had imagined! Our cabin was nestled halfway up the hill, surrounded by trees.. From our muddy boots to the chirping of the birds, the whispering sound of the wind to the smell of wet grass- we were surrounded by the wilderness and we were free!
Before dusk, we treated ourselves with a couple of cocktails by the fire pit and talked aboutall our hopes and dreams, between moments of silence and awe of just how far from civilisation we were and but still so close to what was truly important.
Soon enough it was dinner time which we enjoyed inside, listening to the rain dancing on the rooftop. With our bellies happy, we followed this with a game of Uno before it was time for us to wrap up in our blankets and let the sound of rainf soothe us into a perfect, worry-free sleep.
A misty morning presented itself to us and we embraced it! trapping on our boots, we went into discovery mode;, into the woods and the unknown like two young boys entering a magical new world.
We found a great spot at the top of the hill where we sat and watched life go by for a while in silence and we both realisedjust how grateful we were for the simple things in life and being present in that moment in time.
The end.
